Bolgheri is where the legendary Super Tuscan wine movement began in 1968. This unique terroir, nestled along the Tyrrhenian coast, is home to some of Italy’s most prestigious wineries. Many estates have set visiting hours from Monday to Friday and require advance reservations. Please note that wineries typically close during the grape harvest.
This full-day tour departs from Florence in the morning, taking you on a scenic two-hour drive along the highway to the heart of Bolgheri's vineyards.
At each winery, you will embark on a guided visit through the vineyards and cellars, learning firsthand about the meticulous winemaking process. The tours are conducted in English by the estate's expert staff.
Afterward, you will enjoy a private tasting in an elegant setting, sampling some of the most celebrated Bolgheri wines. Our curated selection of wineries includes esteemed names such as:
For those eager to visit Ornellaia, we strongly recommend booking well in advance due to high demand. When Ornellaia is unavailable, we arrange visits to Guado al Tasso or Le Macchiole, both offering exceptional Super Tuscan wine experiences.
Important:
While Sassicaia is one of the most renowned wines of Bolgheri, its winery, Tenuta San Guido, is not open for public tours. However, we can arrange an exclusive gourmet lunch at Enoteca San Guido, where you can enjoy a carefully curated menu paired with Sassicaia wines.
We booked the private 1-day super Tuscans trip with a tasting menu and it was great. Matteo is extremely friendly and knowledgable on wines so if you are a wine lover, you will learn a lot and enjoy very much. Its a long drive from Florence so I would suggest staying closer to Bolgheri but none the less it was a great experience
Our tour guide Giovanni picked us up from our hotel and he was just so kind and enthusiastic about what he does! We gave us the history of wine and of Tuscany and was very very knowledgeable! He was super patient when some things ran long- and he even stopped to bring us on the way back to show us a view of Florence as he knew we weren’t visiting for long! He was just so exceptional and passionate about what he does and he made it such an amazing and memorable experience for us and for our honeymoon!
We did this Bolgheri wine day tour with the knowledgeable, interesting, and fun Vittorio. We went to the lovely family-owned vineyard called Chiappini and also Guado al Tasso vineyard. We learned a lot about tasting and super Tuscans even though our knowledge level was already relatively high. Vittorio shared a great deal of info and also took us for an incredible meal at the Sassicaia estate where we had an amazing wine there to compare to the others we had tried. He was a great host and it was a trip to remember!
Memorable Tour in Bolgheri! We were picked up promptly at our cruise ship in Livorno and wished to the Bolgheri area of Tuscany. Our guide did an excellent job to giving us the history of the area and viticultural how it differs from the rest of Tuscany. We stopped at Ornellaia, Osteria San Guido Enoteca that serves as a tasting venue for Sassicaia and at and a small winery Guado de Gemoli. Ornellia was the highlight since the property is so beautiful and the wines so delicious (not unlike Peter Michael Winery in Napa Valley). The mean at Osteria San Guido Enoteca was really first class as were the Sassicaia wines we tasted. The tour took about four hours and we were taken back to our ship in plenty time. Memorable Wine Tour of Bolgheri! I recommend it and our guide to anyone who wants to see a great area of Tuscany!
