Our group of 8 did a private tour with Matteo and really enjoyed ourselves. The tours of the small, family-owned wineries were so much fun - seeing how they make and store the wine was a treat. And the history of these wineries was also so interesting. Matteo was a great guide - he didn't just drop us at the wineries, he participated in the tours, led us through the tastings, and explained all the different wines in the region. I was a bit disappointed there were no actual castles on the tour - the second winery was on a huge estate and the building from the outside was beautiful, but we didn't get to see much of it. Great pictures though! The lunch stop was an unexpected surprise - a small family run restaurant we would have never found ourselves. The food was incredible! One of the best fresh pastas we had during our stay in Tuscany.
We had a wonderful time with Hilary on our tour! There were 11 people in our group and everyone walked away with a new appreciation of wine, olive oil and the background of wine and Italy. Hilary is very personable and knowledgeable and made our tour amazing. This was the 2nd tour that we booked with Hilary and I would recommend her to everyone! The wine was excellent, lunch at a small local restaurant was superb, couldn't ask for a better day!
We had a very nice trip with Vittorio. He had an impressive wealth of knowledge about the Chianti region, and was very good for a mix of people, some who knew wine and some who didn't. The places he brought us were really interesting and very cool, and we really enjoyed the day. I highly recommend taking this tour.
Vittorio picked us up at our hotel right on time and took us to two different wineries, including one that is also a medieval castle! The wines were great, Vittorio is very well educated in wines and does a great job explaining the nuances of Chianti and Sangiovese, and we had an amazing time! Lunch was provided at a fantastic local restaurant in the Tuscany countryside, which had great in-season tortello (a local pasta they make around the end of September with boar sausage ragu). I highly recommend Vittorio to anyone that wants a top-notch wine tour!
