Usually, people ask me where to go for a winery-tasting experience once they come to Florence.
Suppose you have four days and want to see and, more of all, taste the best wines of Tuscany. In that case, I suggest planning three days in the 4 DOCG wine-growing regions of Tuscany, such as Chianti Classico, San Gimignano, Brunello di Montalcino, and Nobile di Montepulciano.
On the following proposals, you can have a sample of a 4-day Tuscany wine tour run by my staff of local experts and me. You can also ask for changing cellars or itineraries according to your needs, taste, and budget.
You can begin your journey to the Chianti Classico wine region. Your first private tour and tasting will be in the cellars of Tenuta Poggio Casciano. Then it is off to San Polo in Chianti for lunch and a private tasting at a boutique winery, a small family business. After lunch, you will stop at another winery in Chianti before checking into your 4-star hotel in the countryside. Along the route today, you will also have the opportunity to taste great local foods such as olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and prosciutto.
Upon arrival at your hotel, freshen up and meet your driver in the lobby again for dinner. This evening your reservation will be waiting for you at Trattoria di Fonte Nuova.
One of the most scenic routes for wine tourists is the road of the Vernaccia di San Gimignano, which combines a spectacular landscape and one of the most excellent white wines in the world.
Depart from Florence early in the morning and stop in a beautiful old cellar in the Chianti wine region. Wine tasting and olive oil tasting, then drive along the beauty of an unspoiled country to get to San Gimignano, where you will stop in a small winery run by a young couple for a fresh homemade lunch with excellent white wines. Soon after, stop at the hilltop town of San Gimignano for free sightseeing through the ancient narrow streesìts. (on request, you can ask a professional tour guide ). Then you will be going to Siena.
This evening, you may wish to have a nice quiet dinner at your hotel, or our staff can assist you with reservations.
This day is the time to explore the Montalcino wine alley, the land of Brunello wines. This wine day tour will take you to visit two backroads Brunello wineries and get more out of your trip to the Brunello Valley than you would if you explored alone. Not only does your guide pick two impressive wineries to visit, but they also set up a lunch for your group to enjoy in a winery setting.
Today your wine adventure continues as you sip your way through the wine areas of Montepulciano. The wine estates have been carefully selected for you, with private wine tours and tastings. In addition, a vineyard and winemaking tour with lunch will be included today.
Stop in Montepulciano to look at this beautiful medieval town where many movies such as "Under the Tuscan Sun" and "Twilights" were shot.
